Yet when we think of our escalating refugee/hospitality crisis, mounting poverty and inequalities, eco-systemic collapse and runaway climate change – the challenges we face can seem insurmountable. No matter what we do, it never seems to be enough. Transition, it seems, requires such immense and relentless effort that the self-care necessary to sustain oneself long-term can feel like an unaffordable or self-indulgent luxury.
If this resonates with you, if you have felt or feel on the edge of burnout and want to develop insights and skills to avoid it, join us for a nourishing weekend reflecting on and exploring effective and regenerative activism and personal sustainability through the co-creation of cultures of collective- and self-care.
In From Burnout to Balance workshops we will explore skills, understandings, tool and practices for finding inspiration, hope and ways forward through the ups and downs, to keep going for the long haul.
This workshop will provide an opportunity to get away from our busy lives and take stock, taking time to reflect and learn from our experiences, and re-build resilience. We will question the long term viability and sustainability of the ways that we work personally and in our groups, highlighting ways of working that if left un-noticed can produce stress, conflict, physical and mental ill health, trauma and exhaustion. We will develop skills, practices and ideas to help us make changes in our day to day lives that will support our wellbeing and explore ways of working which keep ourselves, our groups, and our communities sustained, nourished and effective in our re-imagining and re-building of an equitable and life-sustaining world.
Who is this workshop for?
From Burnout to Balance is for anyone involved in Transition related work – whether that means re-building community through food, energy transport, arts, events, inner or faith-based work, organising campaigns, resisting injustice, building alternatives or taking non-violent direct action.
What can you expect?
This workshop is offered in range of lengths and formats and applies ecological/systems thinking and holistic-participatory learning to our Transition work and the re-building of social and ecological movements more broadly. It offers both a space for reflection as well as practical methods for engaging in the inner work that underpins our work re-imagining and re-building an equitable and life-sustaining world.
Themes that will be explored include:
– Building a group culture that supports Transition
– Avoiding disillusionment/staying inspired
– What is ‘enough’ and how to manage it
– Self care and how to integrate it into our daily lives
– Cultivation a group culture of compassion and care
If this resonates with you, if you have felt or feel on the edge of burnout and want to develop skills to avoid it, join us for a nourishing weekend of personal and collective reflection on transitioning away from burn-out and towards bountiful balance.
